QXPress Email Issue Update

We really would like to thank you again for your patience as we try to correct the situation of QXPress email service.  As of right now you can send your work orders, invoices and route lists to the any of the recipients that are expected to receive your emails.  During our research we noticed when sending an email from your company email or personal (gmail, yahoo, aol etc.) to whomever the recipient would be, will arrive in their spam folder.  Please keep in mind we understand how valuable this feature is to our customers and we working hard to correct the situation.  Below will be instructions on how to make sure your email is set up properly.

Here are some easy steps to set up the server settings:

  1. When sending out invoices or work orders/route lists, press the send email in your print preview screen, you will now see “Select forms to email”.

  2. Next step will be to click the “Server Settings”  

  3. Now you will see another box pop up “Edit Email Server Settings.  In this box you can follow each line and fill out the required credentials.

*Note if you see “Send Grid” in any of the boxes, you can replace that information with your email information.

The steps provided are to help you set your email up to get your invoices or work orders out to their destination.  While we are still trying to correct the issue, please inform your employees and customers to either check their Inbox or Spam folder.  Please keep checking back on our blog for more updates on the current situation.

Software Updates

An updated version of Qxpress is available. This version has been tested and approved with Quick Books 2014, which will now be an option in the drop down when doing a sync.

Windows 8 Approval Limitation

While many clients are using Qxpress on Windows 8 successfully, we do have a group of installs that are not working as designed in a Windows 8 environment.  While we are continuing to research the root cause of the install issues, we do not have a resolution availible at this time.  We are currently unable to list Windows 8 as an approved/supported platform as a result.

Status Update on QuickBooks 2013 Approval and Windows Update Issue

We have completed testing for QuickBooks 2013 and also have found a permanent solution to the Windows update issue. All existing clients have been emailed the steps to resolve the issue and a tech article is available as well to walk you through the steps.

QX Issue with recent Microsoft Security Patch

On July 10th, 2012 Microsoft released a security patch and pushed it out to all Windows users.  This patch pertains to the data access libraries and addresses the issue described in security bulletin MS12-045 (KB2698385).  This patch causes a specific issue with QXpress.

QXpress communicates with the www.qxpress.com web server for two important tasks:  refreshing passwords and accessing the shared Template Designer library.  It does this via the Microsoft Remote Data Services library.  This library was affected as part of the aforementioned patch.  When either of these functions are invoked, QXpress terminates.

Microsoft has acknowledged this issue and is working on a fix.  Please reference this article and scroll to the response from the official Microsoft rep (roughly 3/4th of the way down the page).

Meanwhile, the workaround is to remove patch 2698385 and prevent it from re-installing itself.  We have posted wiki articles on how to do this.  If you are using Windows XP, follow this article here.  If you are using Windows 7 / Vista, follow this article here.

Please ensure, before purchasing QXpress, that your version of QuickBooks has the ability to synchronize with third party software (such as QXpress). You can find this out by selecting 'Edit', then 'Preferences' in QuickBooks, then locating the ‘Integrated Applications’ option. This functionality is essential to the synchronization of your customer and item data between QuickBooks and QXpress. ‘EasyStart’ versions of QuickBooks do not have this functionality.
